Why Player 2 for NBA 2K?

2K's online modes (The City, Pro-Am, Rec, Park) are unplayable solo if your randoms ball-hog. Player 2 matches on the things that decide whether a 5v5 wins or implodes: position primary, MyPlayer archetype, height/weight build, and play philosophy (iso-heavy vs ball-movement).

For Pro-Am, the algorithm builds 5-stacks where the positions actually fit — a roster of five PG-build SGs is a guaranteed L. Filter for players who have a Center build, a real PG, and at least one defensive-minded forward.

For Rec, looser filters work — comm style and "passes the ball" rating matter more than archetype. The algorithm tracks self-reported assist-to-turnover preference and matches accordingly.

Cross-platform between Xbox + PlayStation supported in 2K's online modes; PC pool is separate.

How Player 2 matches for NBA 2K

  • Position-aware 5-stacks

Build a Pro-Am roster with one PG, one big, two wings, one slasher — not five SGs.

  • Archetype matching

Sharpshooter, slasher, glass-cleaner, playmaker — match builds that complement instead of overlap.

  • Pass-or-iso preference

Self-rated assist-to-turnover preference filters out the ball-hogs who'll never reset the play.

  • Cross-platform pools

Xbox + PlayStation share a queue; PC has its own. Filter respects the in-game pool.

NBA 2K Teammate Finder — FAQ

Is Player 2 affiliated with 2K Sports or the NBA?
No. Player 2 is an independent matchmaking service. NBA 2K is a trademark of Take-Two Interactive / 2K Sports.
Pro-Am, Rec, or Park focus?
All three. The mode preference filter weighs which mode you want to play primarily — your matches default to people who main the same mode.
How does archetype matching work?
List your MyPlayer archetype (Sharp, Slasher, Glass, Playmaker, etc.). The algorithm avoids matching builds that fight for the same touches and prioritizes complements.
MyTeam or Park only?
MyTeam is mostly solo so the matching value is lower. Player 2 focuses on the team-mode pools (Park, Rec, Pro-Am) where 5-stack chemistry decides games.
Cross-platform with PC?
No. The console pool (Xbox + PlayStation) is separate from the PC pool, matching the in-game crossplay rules. Filter respects this.
Is it free?
Yes. Free on iOS and Android.
