NBA 2K27 Squad Finder Guide: Crews and Teammates
How to find a squad in NBA 2K27 as of November 2026: Crew search filters, Crew HQ, 2K Crews, crossplay limits, and what a group should agree on first.

TLDR
As of November 5, 2026, the route 2K documents for finding a lasting group in NBA 2K27 is the Crews tab in The City's main menu. 2K's Crews support article says you can accept an invite, join a player-made Crew through an application, or use "Quick Join a 2K Crew" to land in a public Crew right away. Crew search filters cover focus, vibe, active times, mic preference, language and region. The game launched on September 3 in US Pacific time. The 2K pages checked for this guide do not mention a Squad Finder. One YouTube tutorial from MVP Romania, posted September 1, describes a Squad Finder Kiosk for finding a squad, so look for it in The City and treat that detail as unconfirmed by 2K. The Crew kiosk 2K does describe is the Squad Showdown Kiosk, which is for private games.
Where a group matters in 2K27
2K's The City overview lists the modes. The ones with a stated group size:
- Crew HQ. The Crew's home base, with half courts for 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3, full 3v3 and 5v5 courts, and built-in voice chat. Crews can queue into competitive 3v3 and 5v5 matchmaking.
- Street Kings. A 3v3 co-op mode against CPU bosses where you play with up to two friends.
- Casual Corner. A rookie hub that runs 3v3 and 5v5 games. At the Hooper tier, teams mix humans and CPU players.
- Starting 5. One human on your side with four AI teammates, so it is not a group mode.
- The REC, The Theater and Park. 2K names these as City modes. The pages checked for this guide do not list team sizes for them, so check in game before you recruit for a number.
The City overview does not list Pro-Am as a separate mode. 2K says it integrated what players liked about Pro-Am into Crew HQ. The Squad Showdown Kiosk inside Crew HQ lets you host private runs and league play, and invite members of other Crews.
How to find a Crew
The steps come from 2K's Crews article:
- Open The City, then the Main Menu, then the Crews tab.
- Check Invitations first if a friend has asked you in.
- Choose "Join a Crew" to apply to a player-made Crew. The first list shows your friends' Crews that have space.
- Open Filter, then Search Crews, to narrow the list. Filters include privacy (open or invite only), focus (Ante Up, Starting 5, The Park, The REC or The Theater), active times, vibe (chill, focused or hardcore), mic requirement, primary language and region.
- Press Apply and read each Crew's bio before you send an application.
If you want people now and are not picky, "Quick Join a 2K Crew" skips applications. 2K Crews are public, have no president, and members cannot be removed from them. Treat them as a waiting room, not a team.
If you would rather build your own, "Start a Crew" lets you set the same focus, vibe, time and mic options so the right applicants find you. A Crew holds up to 50 players. The NBA 2K HQ companion app also lets you chat with your Crew away from the console.
Crossplay limits
2K's own wording is short: crossplay is only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The support article adds that turning crossplay off will remove you from your active Crew on those two consoles. The pages checked do not say how PC or Switch 2 players are grouped, so a PC or Switch 2 player should confirm with a Crew's members before applying. The cross-platform squads guide covers mixed groups in general.
What changes the Crew experience
- Ranked tiers. Crew HQ has Ranked Crew Games across six tiers, from Bronze to Top Ranked. Crews are matched with the same rank or the closest one available. Each day a Crew sits on a leaderboard with 39 others in its tier.
- Difficulty. The Season 2 report says Crew HQ difficulty now matches The REC, and the Squad Showdown Kiosk keeps competitive difficulty sliders for private matchmaking.
- Rewards timing. Some Crew rewards, such as Cap Breakers, have a 7 day cooldown that restarts if you switch Crews. Jumping between Crews to test them has a cost.
- Patch history. Update 2.0 shipped on October 8 for PS5 and Xbox, October 16 for Switch 2 and PC, and the same notes list squad fixes such as a connection error when accepting a squad invite on the Crew HQ practice court. The notes may change, so read the latest before you plan around a fix.
What a group should agree on
These are suggestions, not game rules.
- Positions. Settle who handles the ball, who guards the best opposing player, and who protects the rim. The Season 2 report lists one community build per position, from a 6'4" point guard to a 7'0" center, as examples of how builds map to roles.
- Builds. Agree on a rough build for each spot before anyone spends currency on changes. The Season 2 report also introduces GOAT Builds that break the usual caps, so ask whether they are in or out for your runs.
- Voice. Crew HQ has built-in voice chat, and Crew search has a mic requirement filter. State your mic rule in the Crew bio. If talking to strangers makes you tense, these voice chat tips help.
- Focus and time. Decide whether you are mostly The REC, Park or ranked Crew games, and which nights you play. Active times and focus are search filters, so fill them in honestly.
- A trial period. Play a few games before anyone commits, given the reward cooldown above. The good teammate checklist covers the habits worth checking.
If you still need people
Post a specific ask in your own Crew's messages or a community channel. Include your position, platform, region, hours and mic rule. The complete LFG guide has post templates, src/marketing/games.ts|and the NBA 2K teammate page covers how matching works for the game. A teammate-matching app such as Player 2 can pair you with players who own the game and play when you do.
What may change
2K runs seasonal updates, and Season 2 began on October 16. Crew HQ rules, difficulty and rewards have already shifted since launch, so recheck the patch notes and 2K's Crews article before you rely on any detail here.
