Why Player 2 for Fortnite?
Fortnite fills open squad slots with whoever's next. That's the random who lands a different POI, loots alone, and goes down before the first storm circle. Player 2 matches on what keeps a squad alive together: Build or Zero Build, how aggressively you drop, and whether you want a duo partner, a trio, or a full squad.
Build and Zero Build are basically two different games. One is decided by who can build and edit under pressure, the other by positioning and cover. Mode is a hard filter, not a suggestion: tag the one you main and the algorithm keeps the pools separate.
Party size matters too. Hunting one reliable duo partner is a different search than filling two slots in a squad, and the matching treats it that way. Link your Epic account (plus Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation) and filter by region and language. When you want a squad tonight rather than next week, post an LFG with live presence.
Build, Zero Build, and how parties are matched
Build and Zero Build rank separately
Building is Fortnite's original skill ceiling (walls under fire, edits as duels), while Zero Build swaps all of it for overshield and positioning. They run as separate ranked tracks with separate progress, and a player's rank in one says almost nothing about the other. Agree on the mode before you agree on the squad.
Parties play at the strongest member's level
Ranked pitches a mixed party into lobbies keyed to its highest-ranked member, so carrying a friend means them playing up, not you playing down. Casual fill is a coin flip precisely because it ignores all of this and hands you whoever queued next.
Squad sizes are fixed slots
Solos, duos, trios, and four-player squads are distinct playlists, and reboot vans give a full squad more recovery outs than a duo ever gets. A consistent trio queueing trios is playing a different, more forgiving game than the same three filling into squads with a random fourth.
One account, every platform
Fortnite's crossplay and cross-progression run through the Epic account across PC, consoles, and mobile, so rank, locker, and progress travel with you. Parties pay no matchmaking penalty for mixing platforms, which makes this one of the easiest games to keep a mixed-platform squad alive in.
How Player 2 matches for Fortnite
Build / Zero Build split
Two different games, two separate pools. Match with players who main your mode instead of arguing about it in the lobby.
Duo, trio, or full squad
Party size is a real filter: one ride-or-die duo partner is a different search than two fills for squads.
Playstyle tags
Drop-hot fighters match with drop-hot fighters; edge-of-storm rotators match with each other. Fewer squads that split four ways off the drop.
Epic library linking
Link Epic, plus Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, so your profile reflects what you play and matches line up with your platform.
Fortnite Teammate Finder FAQ
Is Player 2 affiliated with Epic Games?
No. Player 2 is an independent matchmaking service. Fortnite is a trademark of Epic Games, Inc.
Can I match with Zero Build players only?
Yes. Mode preference is a hard filter. Zero Build mains match with Zero Build mains unless you open it up to both.
Does it know the difference between duos, trios, and squads?
Yes. Party size is core to the match: looking for one consistent duo is treated differently than filling out a four-stack for squads.
How does it handle cross-platform play?
Player 2 filters by platform and lets you link Epic, Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation accounts, so matches line up with where you play.
I'm not a sweat. Will I get matched with one?
Only if you ask for one. Profiles carry self-rated skill and playstyle tags, and the AI matches within your bracket, so casual squads stay casual.
Is it free?
Yes. Free on iOS, Android, and the web.
