Why Player 2 for Rocket League?
Rocket League is a rotation game pretending to be a soccer game. The teammate you want isn't the one with the highest rank — it's the one who reads rotation the same way you do. Player 2 matches on rank, but also on rotation philosophy: aggressive (always 1st or 3rd man), defensive (always cover), or balanced.
For 2v2, the duo question is mechanical-vs-positional: a high-mech player with a positional duo wins; two high-mech players whiff into each other. The algorithm asks you to self-tag and matches the complementary archetype.
For 3v3, the third spot is the make-or-break — the player who knows when to commit and when to rotate back. Filter for it.

- Is Player 2 affiliated with Psyonix or Epic Games?
- No. Player 2 is an independent matchmaking service. Rocket League is a trademark of Psyonix LLC / Epic Games, Inc.
- Does it match for tournaments?
- Yes. Filter for players who play in the weekly RLCS-style tournaments and share your rank tier.
- Hoops, Snow Day, Dropshot too?
- Yes — extra modes are a separate filter. Match with players who actually queue Hoops, not just '3v3 standard'.
- How tight is the rank match?
- Default is ±2 divisions (one tier). For 2v2 the algorithm prefers tighter; for 3v3 a wider spread is fine if rotation tags align.
- What about smurfs?
- Verified gamer status reduces smurf surface significantly. New accounts under 14 days are filtered out of ranked matching by default.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Free on iOS and Android.
