The Finals Team Finder: Parties, Crossplay and Builds
How to find and keep a team in The Finals as of November 2026: team sizes by mode, Embark ID friends, crossplay settings, and Light, Medium, Heavy roles.

TLDR
To find a team in The Finals as of November 5, 2026, add players by Embark ID, invite them to your party from the Social menu, and make sure everyone has crossplay switched on. Embark's crossplay help page says that is how friends on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S end up in one party. The current season is Season 12, PRIME TIME, which launched on October 20. Cashout teams have three players, and some other modes use five or eight. Settle your builds and your ground rules before you queue.
Team size in each mode
Team size depends on the mode, so check which one your group wants before you recruit. Embark's game modes page, updated on November 5, lists these:
| Mode | Players |
|---|---|
| Quick Cash (Quickplay) | 3 teams of 3 |
| Cashout (tournament) | 8 teams of 3 |
| Ranked Cashout | Based on Cashout, so teams of 3 |
| Powershift | 2 teams of 5 |
| Team Deathmatch | 2 teams of 5 |
| Point Break | 8v8, one side attacking and one defending |
| Solo Showdown (Beta) | 12 solo Contestants |
The Ranked row is a reading of that page, which calls Ranked Cashout "based on the same principles" as Cashout and does not give a separate team size. Steam's store page names Cashout, Team Deathmatch, Point Break, Power Shift and Solo Showdown, and calls Cashout the signature 3v3v3 mode, while Embark's page gives 8 teams of 3 for the Cashout tournament.
Embark's game modes page says you can form a party and queue into Quickplay, World Tour, Ranked Tournament, or limited-time events. That page also says the old World Tour mode is now called Cashout. For parties larger than three, Embark's Season 12 notes include a fix for how a fifth party member appears in menus. Embark's game modes page does not state a party maximum, so confirm it in the game before you recruit for a five-player mode.
Add friends with an Embark ID
Your Embark ID is the account that lets friends find and add you. It looks like DisplayName#1234, and you can read yours at the top left of the Social menu.
- Open Social, in the top right of the main menu, and choose Add Friend.
- Type your friend's full Embark ID and press Add Friend.
- Once they accept, use Add to Party from the Social tab to send an invite.
- After a match, open Social, then Recent, to add players you just met.
Embark's help page adds a warning: being friends on Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox does not always add the player in The Finals. Use the Embark ID. The same page says a party of two earns a 7.5 percent XP bonus and a party of three or more earns 10 percent, as of its last update in July 2026.
Crossplay and how to turn it off
The same help page lists PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as the supported platforms. Embark retired the PlayStation 4 version when Season 10 began on March 26, 2026. You can switch crossplay off under Settings, Gameplay, Network, Crossplay.
Both players need it on. Embark says that if one person has it disabled, the two of you will not see each other to invite. If a friend is online but missing, the page also suggests checking the Blocked Players list, your platform's privacy settings for friend requests, communication and cross-network play, and restarting the game on both systems. Embark's help page does not say how the toggle changes queue times. For mixed-platform groups in general, see the cross-platform squads guide.
How Light, Medium, and Heavy shape a team
Steam's store page sums up the three builds. Light is built for speed and stealth, Medium for versatile combat and team support, and Heavy for firepower and demolition. Embark's Playstyles page groups its ready-made loadouts by body type:
- Light: Scout, Assassin, Duelist, Infiltrator.
- Medium: Medic, Hacker, Engineer, Aerialist.
- Heavy: Demolisher, Guardian, Enforcer, Strategist.
The numbers shift each season. Season 12 cut Heavy base health from 350 to 325 and raised Light from 150 to 175. In update 12.2.0, Embark said it was tuning some Medium weapons to help Mediums in duels against Lights. Check the current notes before you build a plan around a stat.
The Player 2 The Finals page argues that a trio should cover three jobs (make space, hold the objective, reset the fight) instead of stacking one build. Treat that as a team-building suggestion, not a game rule, since Embark's game modes and Playstyles pages do not require a mix. A practical split: one person makes space or flanks, one holds the objective, and one revives and resets the fight. Playing a few rounds together is the quickest way to learn who prefers which role.
What a group should agree on
- Mode and goal. Casual Quick Cash, the Cashout tournament, or Ranked Cashout. Ranked matchmaking for a party follows its highest-ranked player, so a big rank gap changes the lobbies the whole team sees.
- Builds. Who plays what, and who will switch when the team lacks a role.
- Voice. Embark says voice chat is on by default, as push to talk on PC and voice activated on console. Agree on who calls and who stays quiet, and use the ping wheel for quick callouts.
- Fight rules. Per Embark's game modes page, the team in control when the cashout timer ends earns the cash, so decide when to contest a station and when to leave a fight alone.
- Schedule and platform. Pick the nights you play and confirm everyone's crossplay setting before the first session.
The good teammate checklist covers the habits behind most of these. For rank-focused groups, climbing ranked with a team goes further.
If you have no one to play with
Solo Showdown (Beta) is a way to play alone, and its Season 12 launch came without a leaderboard, though Embark says it plans to add one shortly after the season begins. For team modes, use Recent to add people who played well with you, and post what you need in the complete LFG guide format. A teammate-matching app such as Player 2 can pair you with players who own the game and play when you do.
Embark also makes ARC Raiders. The ARC Raiders squad guide covers its party rules, which are separate from The Finals.
