WoW Forever Guild Guide: Find a Guild or Group

How to find a guild or dungeon group in World of Warcraft: Forever, when to start looking, what to ask before joining, and what to do if you return alone.

TLDR

World of Warcraft: Forever launched worldwide on November 4, 2026. Before you look for anyone, pick your ruleset and faction, because characters can group, join guilds, run dungeons, and raid only within the same ruleset and faction. Blizzard's published guides describe no guild finder, so plan on asking in chat, at campsites, and in Blizzard's official Discord server. Raids open on December 9, so a guild you join this month has about five weeks to settle in. All of this is accurate as of November 5, 2026, and a launch-week game changes fast.

What Forever is

Forever is a new version of WoW that Blizzard calls a permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW. It covers the original continents up to level 60, set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Wikipedia's summary draws the line with Classic: Classic recreates the original game, while Forever adds zones, quests, dungeons, raids, races, and race-class combinations and keeps the level cap at 60. Blizzard says the cap leaves room for an expanding game without more levels, and classes use talent and ability updates rooted in original WoW, so modern habits may not transfer. Access is included with a WoW subscription or Game Time.

Choose your ruleset and faction first

There is no realm list. Instead, you pick a ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplay, or Roleplay PvP, with Hardcore planned for after launch. Each one is its own pool for grouping, dungeons, and raids. Blizzard states that cross-ruleset grouping is not supported, that Horde and Alliance still cannot group, and that battlegrounds may include players from other rulesets (Hardcore excepted).

That makes the ruleset the first guild decision:

  • Match your friends exactly. Agree on ruleset and faction before anyone creates a character. Blizzard repeats this advice in its returning player guide.
  • PvP is one faction per account. On that ruleset, you can only create characters for one faction.
  • Roleplay rulesets carry stricter rules. Blizzard says they have naming and behavior rules, so ask a guild what they expect.
  • Set your language. An account-wide preferred online language setting exists under Options, System, Languages and Social, with a 24-hour cooldown between changes.

How groups form without a queue

As of the BlizzCon demo, Warcraft Tavern reported that Forever has the Classic-style Looking For Group window, which helps organize a party but does not form one or teleport anyone. Meeting stones do not summon either. A warlock's Ritual of Summoning needs two more party members to assist, so in practice everyone walks to the dungeon. Wowhead reported that Looking For Group now requires a Playstyle selection before you can list or queue. Blizzard's published guides do not document the LFG tool itself, so treat these reports as a starting point and check the live window.

Blizzard's own advice for meeting people is simple. Its starter guide says to invite nearby players to a party, join a guild, or use chat to ask for help. It also says that campsites bring players together in the open world. At a campsite, you can rest, trade, or meet companions who may join your next journey.

When to start looking

These are suggestions, built on Blizzard's dates:

  1. Now, if you want people for the leveling dungeons. Nine new five-player dungeons cover levels 13 through 60. A guild or a few regular partners saves a lot of time on those runs.
  2. By late November, if you want to raid. On December 9, level 60 players can enter three raids: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair. Guilds that raid will want to know their roster and schedule before then.
  3. Do not rush the first week. A brand-new guild has no track record, so try it first.

Where to look for a guild

The in-game Guild and Communities window opens with the J key, and the Discord guide explains how guild chat can be mirrored to a Discord channel. No Blizzard article describes a built-in guild recruitment list, so these are the places Blizzard points to or that follow from its design:

  • The official WoW Portal Room. Blizzard describes it as a welcoming Discord server for meeting adventurers and finding your next community.
  • People you already group with. Anyone you quest or run a dungeon with is a possible guildmate.
  • Chat and campsites. Ask for a guild that fits your ruleset, faction, and play times.

What to ask a guild before joining

  • Which ruleset and faction are you on? If the answer differs from yours, nothing else matters.
  • When do you play, and in which time zone? A raid night you cannot attend is a dead end.
  • Do you plan to raid on December 9? Ask how they pick groups and who is invited.
  • Is there a Discord? Blizzard supports mirroring guild chat to Discord, so ask whether you must join it.
  • What happens when someone is new or missing? You want a straight answer about patience and absences.
  • How do you handle conduct? Ask who enforces the rules and what happens after a complaint.
  • Can I start as a trial member? Both sides can then leave easily.

If you are returning alone

Blizzard's returning player guide covers account recovery and installing through the Battle.net app. After that:

  1. Start on Normal if you are unsure. The starter guide calls it a welcoming place to learn.
  2. Join the Portal Room and say what you play. Mention ruleset, faction, class, and when you are online.
  3. Quest near other players and ask for help. Short, specific requests work best.
  4. Add the people from a good dungeon run. Ask them about their guild before you ask to join.
  5. Remember the modern game stays available. Blizzard notes that a subscription covers both, so Forever does not have to replace your other plans.

If voice chat makes you nervous, these tips for voice chat anxiety help. The good teammate checklist covers the habits that get you invited back, and how to make gaming friends as an adult covers the slower route. For the general craft of a good listing, see the complete LFG guide.

If your friends are on another game right now, a teammate-matching app such as Player 2 can pair you with players who own the game and play when you do.

Before you log in

Settle ruleset and faction with any friends, pick a trial-friendly guild rather than the loudest recruiter, and keep your plan flexible for December 9. Recheck the in-game LFG window and guild options after the first patches.
